Pictures or it didn’t happen – AI, porn and the end of reality

We have come to depend on video for evidence that something has happened even though we are aware that the medium can be “faked”. But what happens when the fakes become so realistic that we can’t trust our eyes, ears or technology? Tricks and tech that were previously only available with Hollywood blockbuster budgets, or to nation states are now available to anybody and like a lot of things on the Internet, porn has driven its use “in the wild”.

Are we prepared to deal with the consequences of AI driven fakes? If everything is fake, is nothing fake? Will face to face communication become the only thing we can trust? And are we at the end of the reality we have known since we began to believe in “Pictures or it didn’t happen”?
